favourite faces for favourite mythic ladies: Eurybia with Cynthia Addai-Robinson
Poseidon calls himself ‘king of the sea’ and it riles her. Olympian children, newborn upstarts, where were they when the world was young? Her father had been the the king of seas too, the Titan Lord of that wild manless expanse, but even he (Eurybia knows) must come second only to her as true king. Eurybia did not rule the sea, but the mastery of the sea. It was she who brought the seasonal weather and she who rose the constellations and she who asked the moon to move in her path. What was the sea without these things that commanded it?
Let Poseidon call himself Lord; Eurybia upon the prow of her ship had never felt his sea-stone fingers.
